Grey handmade knitted Oxbow Cardigan for toddler

Oxbow Cardigan – Completed!

Finished Oxbow Cardigan handmade knitted sweater. Knit is soft and squishy in a medium grey tone. Knitted in a toddler size.

And just like that, the Oxbow Cardigan for my 18 month old daughter is complete! This was one of the fastest projects I’ve done and I’m really happy with the results. I still have quite a bit of yarn to use up so I’m planning to make a second one for my 2 year old niece.

In my last post I was working on the raglan shaping plus doing arm decreases. Those all went smoothly using my method to track and I really didn’t find it confusing at all. Once the main body was complete I picked up stitches for the collar. The only real thing I did differently from the pattern here was use German Short Rows instead of W&T short rows. I used this tutorial as a reminder on how to do this and am really happy with the results. The German Short Rows hide so well and are super easy to do. Win, win.

Finally I sewed up the arm holes, weaved in the ends and blocked! I quickly tried it on my daughter and totally love this look. It’s still a bit large on her but the oversized, chunky knit look is perfect for the fall weather we’re having. So cozy!

Overall I really enjoyed this pattern and am looking forward to working it up again for my niece, and maybe even myself at some point although I have my eye on another cardigan pattern for my next project.

For now, I’m going to have a look through my yarn stash and see what else I can work on!
